Services
What we do, and what we don’t.
We’re equipped for most of your dental needs, for you and your whole family. Where we bring in a specialist, we’ll say so. If you don’t see something here, call and ask: we also provide most other treatments not listed.
Keeping you healthy
Exams, cleanings and care for kids.
Your first exam
A full look at your mouth: a screening for TMJ problems, an oral cancer screening, gum probing, then a diagnosis and our recommendations. We’ll also take x-rays, which may include a panoramic, the kind that spins around your head.
Cleanings
We recommend a professional cleaning at least twice a year. Heavy tartar may need a more involved cleaning, and tartar below the gum line may need numbing so we can remove it comfortably.
Gum care
Deep cleanings and advanced periodontal therapies for tartar build-up that’s contributing to gum disease.
Kids and families
We treat all ages, with sealants to protect children’s teeth from decay. Dr. Tills finds it most rewarding to get to know and treat entire families.
Fixing what’s wrong
Fillings, crowns, root canals and extractions.
Tooth-colored fillings
If a filling isn’t too big, we may recommend a bonded resin filling. It blends in with your tooth, and because it’s bonded in place, less of your tooth has to be removed.
Root canals
A root canal saves a tooth with a damaged or infected nerve. Root canals are not and should not be painful: properly numbed, it’s the same as any other dental procedure. You’ll usually need a crown afterward, so the tooth is protected from breaking or becoming reinfected.
Extractions
Routine extractions, and extraction of third molars (wisdom teeth).
Emergencies
We can treat teeth that have been chipped, moved or knocked out entirely. Call (608) 222-9142. If you have a life-threatening or severe injury, call 911 or go directly to the nearest emergency room.
Crowns: three kinds, and the trade-offs.
A tooth typically needs a crown when most of it is gone, decayed or cracked. Crowns also cover most root canal treated teeth and restore implants.
| Type | How it looks | The trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| All porcelain | Very esthetic | The most natural look |
| Porcelain over metal | Not as esthetic | A metal base adds strength |
| All metal | The least esthetic | Very cleansable, so easier to keep clean |
Replacing missing teeth
Implants, bridges and dentures.
Implants
Dr. Kutz and Dr. Tills work with implant specialists. They plan your treatment with you, and once your implants are placed, they fit the crowns or attachments that replace one tooth, several teeth, or hold a removable denture in place.
Bridges
A bridge is a series of crowns attached together to fill in for a missing tooth.
Full and partial dentures
Removable teeth you take out at night. In general, partial dentures work better than full dentures. If you don’t have enough bone for a full denture to stay in and work well, we may recommend an implant to help hold it.
Improving your smile
Invisalign, veneers and whitening.
Invisalign
Dr. Tills and Dr. Kutz are certified Invisalign providers. Ask us for a free iTero scan to see the possibilities for your smile.
Veneers
Veneers improve the shape and color of teeth and fill in gaps between front teeth.
Zoom whitening
In the office, the Zoom Whitening System can whiten your teeth up to 8 shades lighter in about 2 hours. We can also make custom trays you wear for at least 2 hours, usually while you sleep, with significant results usually seen within 2 weeks.
Who shouldn’t whiten
Bleaching isn’t recommended for anyone with gum disease or decay, or for nursing or pregnant women. Some people get sensitive teeth or gums afterward, and are usually advised to bleach at longer intervals.
